William first started out painting and observing nature through watercolour. Over the years he experimented with various media, but nature as a thematic study has never left his canvas. It appears in various guises. The worlds William creates, find their roots in happiness. The subjects of his paintings are a blend of nature and mechanical objects: they depict, singly and as collectives, dreamscapes where positivity reigns

About the exhibition:

Artists Zero and OneTwoDelta attempt to manifest themselves as storytellers; by recollecting and remembering past episodes and scrutinising the obscurities and enigma hidden within. These complex imageries are synthesized with each artist’s trademark style, and represented onto works of Art.

The exhibition redefines stigmas and recaptures memories. It plays at the artists’ separate recollections and breaks the facade of boundaries through dissection, deconstruction and twisted interpretation.

  About the Artists:

Zero and OneTwoDelta started from their time as members of the artist collective Artvsts, their initial experience of broaching the metaphorical boundary between gallery vs. street came from participating in Seni: Singapore 2004 when Artvsts was invited to intervene, react and create responses to works by other participating artist collectives such as Big Sky Mind, Spacekraft, 16Beaver and Project304 within the exhibition. Using wall graffiti and installations, Artvsts responded artistically with its creation of Pencerobohan Askar Kapitalis (The Invasion of the Capitalist Army), Weapons of Mass Distraction? and Are U Being Watched, Cos We are Watching. They progressed from there, individually expanding their crafts and artistic field.

About the exhibition:

“Floating Clouds” will feature artworks of XuanQi’s signature “Yellow Rubber Duckling” and Clouds with various topics from famous icons & brand and a special dedication to the Royal Wedding.

XuanQi felt Life is like “floating clouds”. There are millions of clouds in the sky and the diversity of the clouds is controlled by the wind.

Cloud has no roots and is always confronted by the condition in the sky just like human’s life – destiny is unpredictable. Wind does not have any orientation and it will carry the cloud to whenever the wind travel.  Our life is a mystery and fills with changes that we always hope for status quo and comfort which is impossible.

Clouds are immaculate but still will be carried away to thousand miles by the wind. It is a reflection of our mental state of mind but ultimately our heart will dictate our decision in life.

May “Floating Clouds” bring hopes and pleasure to our life and to all of the viewers!

About the exhibition:

Once in while you come across some cool street art which is observed by a walk perhaps a smile, perhaps a photo with your cellphone and a quick share on Twitter or Facebook, maybe it’s a message, or maybe it’s The Bucket Men.

For The Bucket Men painting is just another way of keeping a diary.“The Bucket Men’s Adventures around the World”,   but who is the face behind the legend.

Jui-Ping Chang, a London based artist and she started ”The Bucket Men’s series while she was in London.  Bucket menare characters that represent timid little people who adventures in a world filled with chaos.  Bucket men use the buckets to cover their heads so that you will not be able to see the fear on their faces.  With the bucket on the heads, they won’t be able to see either, thus they become fearless of whatever dangers lay in front of them.

When she realized that bucket men are little souls inside herself, she was deeply inspired by creating these characters to express her real self.  Her inspiration continues pouring in, showing no signs of slowing down.  Whenever a new bucket men adventure is created, it is also the time I examine the meaning of life.  Viewers of her paintings will also get the strength and courage to embark on the journey of bucket men, a journey of adventures not limited by time or space.

About the Artist:

Jui-Pin Chang was born in Taiwan in 1964 where she studied art at the University of Taipei, mastering traditional Chinese calligraphy and brush painting. She studied in the US, taught art classes in Canada, then moved to the UK in 2003.  She is now a full time artist in Taiwan, with frequent travels to the UK and EU nations.

“After teaching art for twenty years and having lived in the different countries. She became inspired to explore ideas relating to her own life and experience, as both a woman and a mother. Her most recent work blends a sense of menace with a quirky humour, men (with buckets over their heads) make us feel that they are dancing, but maybe at our expense: in awe; having fun; or as if something illusive, enigmatic or ambiguous, intangible or unrecognised, is going on”, shares the artist.

Her imagination and perception about inner and outer world is very impressive, and this is what makes her a great artist. She has invented an interesting and adorable character ‘The Bucketmen’ for which she has received much deserved appreciation from all over the world.

About the exhibition:

Looking closely to the theme of 2011’s indigNation festival, Pride, Camouflage is a complete opposite of what is meant to be proud. In this exhibition, we are looking at the idea of how this ‘pride’ is applied in contemporary Singapore.

The development of LGBT community locally has been tremendous and public’s perception towards sensitive issues has grown for the better. But how much have we declared our ‘pride’ as part of the minority? How have we flagged the rainbow signatures in public spaces. Ironic as it is, yes, we have not.

This exhibition aims to highlight the idea of camouflaging into the community, not necessarily a bad thing, which the local LGBT community, at large still succumbs in. By integrating into the mainstream community, without any discrimination on sexual identity, does that make us proud?

By not addressing the issues of sexual liberation and living the common life, yet accepting one’s identity being gay, is that the pride that we are talking about? Yes, when there’s pride, there’s hiding, there’s camouflaging.

Camouflage will feature young artists exploring the issue of integrated pride through the various medium of presentation. Works exhibited will show balanced statements and views upon the challenge of gay pride in comparison to social integration. Can we still camouflaging yet proud of being gay? Does one have to be the opposite of another?

Your Inner Self (Meditation Session by Joyotee Ray Chaudhury)

Your Inner Self

(Meditation Session by Joyotee  Ray Chaudhury)

If you depend on your creativity for your living, then your most valuable piece of equipment is not your computer, smartphone, camera, or any other hi-tech gadget. The critical means of production is small, gray, and weighs around 1.3 kilograms. It is the human brain. So what are you doing to maintain this precious resource? You probably give it plenty of stimulation – books, movies, music, nights out, interesting conversations with offbeat people.

Come and witness a talk and a short meditation session with local artist Joyotee Ray Chaudhury who shares how a calm mind can help in the creative process.

About Joyotee Ray Chaudhury

Joyotee is an multi-talented artist as well as yoga practitioner that believe in the importance of meditation that bring out the calm and creative mind of oneself.
